The Social Care group were tasked by artist Mürüde Mehmet to paint portraits or townscapes on ceramic plates, referring to their choice of Ribeiro’s artwork that aligned with their own sense of identity. Several opted for the only realistic oil portrait he ever did in 1963 – that of his wife.
